About MuseumWeek
MuseumWeek is an annual global event that leverages the power of social media to spotlight and promote the invaluable work of museums and cultural institutions worldwide. Designed as a digital festival, it encourages institutions to share creative and engaging content across popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This initiative not only strengthens the online presence of participating organizations but also fosters a sense of global cultural solidarity.
Throughout the week, participating institutions align their activities with a series of carefully curated themes. These themes provide a shared framework for storytelling and audience engagement, sparking conversations around art, heritage, science, and innovation. In addition to online content, many institutions organize in-person events, exhibitions, workshops, or live-streamed activities that enhance visitor experiences and draw diverse audiences into the cultural sphere.
Launched in 2014, MuseumWeek has grown into a widely recognized cultural initiative, involving thousands of institutions from over 100 countries. Its inclusive and collaborative approach invites museums of all sizes, from world-renowned institutions to smaller community-driven organizations, to join in celebrating and reimagining cultural engagement in the digital age.
